A practical container-loading guide for buyers of PVC wall panels
If you are importing PVC wall panels, the first question is usually the same: how many panels - and how many square meters - will fit in my container? Based on our standard carton size of 54 x 54 x 15 cm and an average of 50 panels per carton, a 20GP container holds about 630 cartons, or roughly 31,500 panels (about 7,875 m² of Wall Coverage). A 40HQ container holds about 1,560 cartons, or roughly 78,000 panels (about 19,500 m²).
Why container capacity matters
PVC wall panels are usually shipped in full container loads. Freight is charged per container, so the more panels you can pack into each one, the lower your landed cost per square meter. Knowing your container capacity before you order also makes it easier to compare supplier quotes, plan your budget, and avoid the higher per-cubic-meter cost of less-than-container-load (LCL) shipments.
Three factors decide how many panels actually fit: the carton size, the number of panels per carton, and the way the cartons are stacked inside the container. This guide walks through all three for the two most popular container types.
Start with the carton
Our PVC wall panels ship in cartons measuring 54 x 54 x 15 cm (L x W x H). Each carton occupies about 0.044 m³ of cargo space. The number of panels inside depends on the design. We offer more than 200 designs, and because the embossed relief depth varies from one style to another, a carton typically holds between 30 and 100 panels. For planning purposes, we use an average of 50 panels per carton.
How many panels fit in a 20GP container?
A standard 20GP container has interior dimensions of about 5.90 x 2.35 x 2.39 m. In our standard packing method, the cartons stand upright with the 54 cm edge vertical:
• 11 cartons along the length
• 14 cartons across the width
• 4 layers high
That gives 11 x 14 x 4 = 616 cartons in the standing stack. The space left at the top is used for 14 cartons laid flat, bringing the total to 630 cartons. At an average of 50 panels per carton, one 20GP container holds about 31,500 panels - roughly 7,875 m² of wall panel coverage.

How many panels fit in a 40HQ container?
A standard 40HQ container has interior dimensions of about 12.03 x 2.35 x 2.69 m - roughly twice the floor length of a 20GP, with extra interior height. With the cartons standing upright (54 cm edge vertical):
• 22 cartons along the length
• 14 cartons across the width
• 5 layers high
That gives 22 x 14 x 5 = 1,540 cartons in the standing stack. Near the door, an additional 20 cartons can be loaded lying flat, bringing the total to 1,560 cartons. At an average of 50 panels per carton, one 40HQ container holds about 78,000 panels - roughly 19,500 m² of wall panel coverage.

20GP vs 40HQ at a glance
Both columns assume the same 54 x 54 x 15 cm carton and an average of 50 panels per carton. The volume check also holds: 630 cartons take up about 27.6 m³, comfortably inside the usable volume of a 20GP, while 1,560 cartons take up about 68.2 m³, within the usable volume of a 40HQ.
Why your actual order may differ
The numbers above are theoretical planning figures, and they are deliberately based on the average. Because our range covers more than 200 designs, the number of panels per carton changes with the design:
• Deep-relief and thicker profiles: about 30 panels per carton
• Standard designs: about 50 panels per carton
• Lighter, flatter profiles: up to 100 panels per carton
